About Shahd Jaziri

Meet Shahd Jaziri, a dedicated student at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) who is pursuing dual majors in Criminal Justice and Communication Studies within the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and School of Liberal Arts programs. She is also actively involved in various organizations, having served as co-president of the Alliance for Immigrant Justice, an undergraduate student government senator and as a member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Committee. Shahd’s unwavering commitment to her studies and involvement has ignited her desire to further her education by attending law school to become an immigration attorney.

The Beginning

In her pursuit of effectively showcasing her college accomplishments, Shahd embarked on a journey to find the right platform. It was during her freshman year when one of her professors introduced her to the CN ePortfolio, highlighting its efficiency in presenting completed work and achievements. Progressing through her college journey, her professors consistently emphasized the advantages of the CN platform, assigning tasks to help students enhance their ePortfolios. Utilizing the platform's user-friendly interface for ePortfolio creation, Shahd effectively depicted her achievements and involvements during her college years. She expressed, "I was able to showcase projects, presentations, professional experience, and advocacy work." Continuing to utilize the CN ePortfolio, Shahd continues to upload significant accomplishments, including her most recent communication capstone project.

Shahd shared, "CN ePortfolio encouraged me to reflect on the various concepts from my communication courses and integrate them into my showcases." The platform enabled her to weave together skills gained from her major, such as message creation, ethical understanding, collaboration, theory application, and research analysis. Shahd praised her communication studies professors for their invaluable guidance. She noted, "I am grateful for their emphasis on creating an aesthetically pleasing ePortfolio." Faculty's support extended to providing grading rubrics outlining necessary components like graphics, videos, papers, and projects.

For Shahd, the CN ePortfolio offers more benefits than initially apparent. Through her unwavering commitment to refining her CN ePortfolio, she has gained the ability to grasp the intricate interconnections between her diverse skills, accomplishments, and experiences, which have collectively shaped the student she is today.

Empowering Job Applications and Opportunities

Having secured two internships during her collegiate journey, Shahd has also found the CN ePortfolio valuable when applying for jobs and internships, noting that "It was incredible to showcase my college journey to potential employers through tangible evidence." She received compliments for her ePortfolio, reinforcing its value in effectively communicating her accomplishments. Reflecting on her ePortfolio progress, Shahd emphasized that attention to detail is crucial when crafting your ePortfolio, "you need to show employers that you are detail-oriented,” she said.

When offering advice to other students initiating their ePortfolio journey, Shahd suggested that “Describe your showcases comprehensively, highlighting competencies, skills, and learning, incorporating a variety of artifacts such as videos, images, papers, and podcasts,” is highly beneficial to maximize the potential of the ePortfolio. Shahd mentioned the part of the ePortfolio showcases that a lot of students overlooked: the importance of adding artifacts to make them more visually appealing. Students can easily choose different layout templates on CN ePortfolio to craft visually pleasing showcases that can foster engagement and excitement as people review their content. “Ensure accurate citation and prioritize readability." Emphasizing the significance of error-free content, she added, "A polished ePortfolio showcases your attention to detail."
